☆What is Emissivity Measurement? Q:What is Emissivity? A:Emissivity is a surface property which determines how much radiation an object emits at a given temperature compared to a blackbody at the same temperature. This is one of important property for thermal efficiency, and it has an interesting applications which can make objects with commercially useful. Q:Why is Emissivity Measurement now? A:Because some manufacturers try to change actively thermal efficiency from basic material level with high efficiency of energy, or electric conservation, as a part of global Eco-friendly efforts in Japan. Q:How to improve product quality with Emissivity Measurement? A:By control of basic materials, the quality of complete products will be decided whether it is good or bad. Thermophysical property values have Thermal Conductivity, Thermal Diffusivity, Specific heat, Density and Emissivity, they will be able to refer at the literature. But literature values are average. The actual values are different in many cases. Especially emissivity is changed by surface treatment, therefore actual measuring is important. Our emissivity measure is the measuring instrument that provides data in this field.
☆What is TSS-5X? Q:What kind of emissivity measurement instrument is TSS-5X? A:It's a simplified measuring instrument for emissivity. Q:What is the difference between FT-IR(Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy) and TSS-5X? A:FT-IR is more accurate and expensive type. TSS-5X is low cost simplified type while accurate.
Q:For thermal design of high accuracy, is it not better that we take details data by FT-IR? A:FT-IR can certainly measure emissivity per each spectrum and take the details data. However, in thermohydrodynamic analysis of electronics, measurement per each spectrum is not important. Becuase the input values which were averaged these emissivities, are mostly utilized. Therefore, measurement data which has been obtained by TSS-5X has been considered enough and useful data from many engineers. Q:Can't we take data by FT-IR at public industrial technology center etc? A:Emissivity is different by each temperature. At the case of test in public industrial technology center etc, the measurement environment or the your time are really limited. By placing it to your laboratory, you can always measure and get more variety details data efficiently. Q:Who are users of TSS-5X?
